Convene Enterprise Mentoring Programme:
Share Your Knowledge, Gain a Qualification

The Convene Enterprise Mentoring Programme is a unique opportunity for enterprise professionals to receive training and qualification in mentorship, while providing valuable support and guidance to students in their transition from Higher Education to early career employment as an intern or graduate.

We are currently seeking enterprise mentors for this semester’s programme, which will be starting in late October 2021.

Why become a Convene Enterprise Mentor?
Mentoring can be a mutually rewarding experience for both mentor and mentee.
  • Mentoring helps professionals to improve their communications skills, reinforce and share their knowledge, enhance experience and broaden learning, gain a sense of fulfilment and growth and improve leadership skills. Mentoring also enables companies early access to the talent pipeline in our universities.
  • Students benefit from exposure to role models and individualised career development support that covers everything from routes into enterprise roles, writing a strong CV and cover letter, and interview skills to preparing for a corporate work environment, networking, and more.
Convene Enterprise Mentors will connect with students for 8 hours over a period of two months. On completion of the programme, mentors will receive a Level 9 micro credential in Early Career Mentoring (5 ECTS)—at no cost—as a pilot initiative this will be fully funded by Convene.

Using collaborative teaching and learning strategies, the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certificate in Early Career Mentoring explores mentor behaviours and skills to support mentee development. To complete the CPD, mentors will be required to attend one half day workshop and submit a report and presentation at the end of the process. Recognition of the time spent mentoring students contributes significantly towards the assessment of the microcredential. Learning outcomes include:
  • An understanding of the role and responsibilities of the mentor and mentee
  • The nature and limits of mentoring relationships

  • Effective collaborative communication and problem-solving skills
  • Awareness and application of equality, diversity and inclusion principles
  • Skills and techniques for managing common issues that present during the mentoring process
The first half-day seminar will take place the week of October 25th 2021*
Mentoring will take place between November 2021 and December 2021*
Final report and presentation to be submitted: December 2021*

*Dates above are tentative

Professionals with relevant enterprise experience, interested in the early career development of students are welcome to apply.
